Maasai tribe always happy and welcoming
While enjoying your safari at Masai Mara, travel and visit Maasai village at a small extra cost.
A visit to Maasai Village will give you a chance to witness the unspoiled long tradition and culture of the Masai people.
They live in small houses called “Manyattas” which are normally built by women, only relying on the men to supply them with the necessary materials.
They begin with a rugged framework of timber poles interwoven with smaller branches to form the structure, which they then cover with a mixture of mud, grass, cow dung, and ash.
This fascinating tribe resides in the areas surrounding the Maasai Mara in Kenya and northern Tanzania.
The Maasai used to move nomadically with their herds to abundant lush pastures but these days they have built permanent huts and prefer to stay in one place.
They are pastoralists and cattle is essential to their way of life. A man’s success is measured by the number of cattle and offspring he has.
As great status and show of wealth the cattle are, they are also a vital food source. This glimpse of authentic Maasai culture is a fascinating experience of an ancient way of life that still flourishes today.
Boat rides form part of your safari which generates a mood of relaxation at the same time enjoying wildlife viewing.
Lake Naivasha, Kenya, is the best spot for many animals as you experience a unique boat ride within the shore lakes. This is a beautiful freshwater lake, home to families of hippos and thousands of birds.
Its inner island hosts numerous wild animals, and the lake is surrounded by papyrus and forests of yellow barked Acacia trees, known as the yellow fever tree.
Lake Manyara boat ride, in Tanzania, offers an aquatic experience on the park filled with beautiful scenic sightings with its animals like giraffes and pink colored flamingoes which crowd the shores of the Lake.
African Wild, is all magical and promising during the Day and Night as well. Most of the national parks and reserves do not offer night game drives but they can be conducted on the conservancies within the parks and reserves which needs to be booked and arranged early in advance.
The best places in Kenya for the Night Game drive are Olpejeta Conservancy and some conservancy lodges/camps at Masai Mara National Reserve like Mara Naibosho Conservancy.
Tented camps/Lodges within the conservancy, have their own good Landcruisers for Night game drive which lasts for one hour from 7 pm. In Tanzania, Night Game Drive can be arranged at Lake Manyara National Park and Tarangire National Park.
