Set in 200 acres of private land, and with a rustic charm off all its own, Amboseli Sopa Lodge is nestled in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Its located 250kms from Nairobi on a paved road except for the last 4kms of all-weather marram, the journey takes between 3 and 4 hours. Flying from Nairobi takes approximately 40 minutes, and it is an hour’s transfer time from the airstrip to the lodge. Rustic, well-spaced cottages meander through the vast expanse of mature gardens and house eighty-three guest rooms. These are all brightly decorated with Masai themed wall murals, and each room has been purpose-built to contain either one or two queen-sized beds as well as a veranda. The Lodge also has a luxuriously appointed, extremely spacious, two-bedroom Presidential suite with a private dining room and an attached kitchenette, and also with a huge lounge and a quite simply vast veranda
